2025 Point-In-Time Count

Every year, Contra Costa County conducts a Point-in-Time (PIT) count to understand the scope of homelessness in the county. Working with the County Department of Information Technology’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team, the Contra Costa Continuum of Care (CoC) uses a GIS app to document locations and sleep settings for people sleeping in unsheltered settings the night of the PIT count.
On Jan. 30, 2025, over 150 PIT Count volunteers canvased the county to conduct the PIT count using their cell phones and provided data in real-time during the count. This data provides a snapshot of where homelessness is most visible in our communities and is used to determine funding by State and Federal agencies. Dozens of CCH staff contributed to this effort as volunteer canvassing teams and site support. To get updates on PIT data and learn about future opportunities, sign up for the CoC newsletter.
“It was a wonderful experience to be part of the Contra Costa County 2025 PIT Count day. Kudos to everyone that made this a success — they were incredibly supportive, collaborative, and inspiring. I also can’t forget to mention the team’s outstanding camaraderie. Count me in for the Contra Costa County 2026 PIT Count day!” – CCH volunteer
